October Fun

October festivities begin with a very, very cold trip to the pumpkin farm in Rockmart. We ventured out one Friday morning to visit the pumpkins and the animals. Malachi loved petting the cows. He was getting frustrated with us for not letting him get in the cage with the chickens. He will thank us one day for not letting him. Needless to say, Marc and I were done about 15 minutes into it. It was soooo cold! We had fun though. My girlfriend and I decided to match our kids this year. Lord Vader and Queen Amidala were so cute! I am sure next year they will be wanting to pick out there own costumes, which won't be as much fun. We really had fun dressing them up. They did not have as much fun. Ha! We took them to the Halloween church function. It was rainy and cold so we went to Waffle House after to warm up. The ladies at Waffle House gave Malachi a waffle instead of candy, ha. Graceland goes Hollywood was a BLAST! We had so much fun dressing up with our friends. Marc and Josh were dumb and dumber. Jenni, Krista, and I dressed up as the Power Puff Girls. Adam was our creator/professor. This was the best Halloween yet. Not sure how we are going to top this one!

How does your garden grow?

We tried our hand at a garden this year. Marc did most (all) of the preliminary work. It rained so much this year we were late getting it started. He tilled the area 4-5 times! Of course, we had to start from scratch. We planted carrots, broccoli, okra, zucchini, cucumbers, tomatoes, purple peas, corn, cantaloupe, and watermelon! We have had success with some things and failures with others. Okra, peas, cucumbers, cantaloupes and watermelon are doing great. We picked our first watermelon today. We weren't really sure when they would be ready. I think that we picked it a little too early, but it still tasted good. We will wait on the next ones a few more days.

Beach trip #2...Perdido Key, FL

Our second trip we went with the Plimpton family to Perdido Key, FL. Grandma and Papa John's beach house. Malachi loves the ocean. He has absolutely no fear when it comes to getting in the water. He actually wants to swim by himself. He gets frustrated when you try to hold his hand to make sure that he does no fall down from the waves! We had a great week with my family. Mom cooked every night. Our week included shrimp, crab, and fillet minion...YUM! Mom also took me shopping for my birthday.

Back from the beach...

We had 2 great weeks at the beach this month. We went to Grayton Beach with the Dewberry clan first. Malachi loved being with all of his cousins. He had no fear of the ocean. He absolutely loved playing in the sand. He sat in the sand and shoveled sand into a bucket for hours. He played in the fountains with all of his cousins. Running around trying to keep up with them. We had a blast.

5 years

It is hard to believe that it has been five years since I walked the aisle. In some aspects its seems as if it has flown by, others...not so much. Lol. We are celebrating in Nashville, TN at the Gaylord Opryland hotel. It is absolutely beautiful. Here is a picture of the view from our room.

This hotel is huge. It is separated into sections, almost like a theme park. But all the sections look alike. Its kind of like a botanical gardens. There are several restaurants and shops. The little restaurant that you can see from our room rotates in a circle every hour. Its like the sundial in Atlanta. Very cool.

Last night we went on the General Jackson Showboat. I takes you down the Cumberland river. It typically goes right through downtown Nashville, but the water level was so high that we could not get under the bridge to make it downtown. Marc was really bummed about not seeing the lights of downtown. I have to admit I was too. It was really nice, but really long. 3 hours. We haven't seen any stars yet. Haha, I will let you know if we do.

Rain, rain, go away...

Well, last year we prayed for rain. I think God heard us! This was the last tornado that came through. It just brushed right by us. I think that it eventually touched down in Cartersville somewhere on Grassdale Rd. Every time there is a tornado warning we go over to mom's house and get in the basement. Marc stays upstairs watching the tv. Waiting for the weather man to give the exact countdown. It is funny to me that now we can know exactly when one is going to hit. I know that we can usually count on a call from Marc's dad, Dennis to forewarn us about the weather. On this certain day he was in the bed with a migraine :(.

The worst fiasco that we had this year happened at about 1 in the morning. The wind was so strong that it woke me up. It sounded like a tornado was going through our house. I jump out of bed and found Marc still watching tv. He had jumped up also. I said, "What do we do?" He said "You get Malachi and I will get the car." Well, at this point I thought that we were right in the middle of a tornado. So, I ran and got Malachi out of the bed and covered him with a blanket. Marc helped me down the stairs outside while it was raining so hard I slipped on the step and scrapped the back of my ankle pretty bad. We get over to my parents house (because they have a basement) and I am soaking wet in my sports bra and panties (half naked). My whole body is shaking from nerves and the cold rain. My sister says, "Would you like some clothes?" Hahaha! So, we waited for the storm to pass with my sisters and eventually made our way back home. Oh, if you didn't already know, we live in the same cul de sac as my parents. We have visited many a time this year with all of the storms that have been coming through. We are blessed to have not had a bad one though.

First Beach Trip 2009

About two weeks ago Jenni and I drug our kids down to the beach to enjoy the absolutely fabulous weather. It was sooooo nice! 80 degrees with the slightest little breeze, it really was perfect. If it weren't for the church kid sale I'm sure that we would have stayed a few more days. Malachi enjoyed his pool, even if he had a 104.7 temp the day before. Poor kid. Apparently he had the flu, but that didn't stop us from having a good time. He thinks sand is food, which is funny. I had to stop him from eating too much. Jenni and I were just glad to get away for a few days and enjoy the beach!

Wayyyy behind...

Malachi is ten months old now. Crawling around EVERYWHERE! He has learned a new trick. He can wave bye-bye. We think its the cutest thing in the world, but of course we are the parents, haha. He is also clapping and standing by himself. I am not ready for him to walk yet. We are not encouraging it. I am sure it will happen on its own. I don't want to have to be running around after him any sooner than I have to! These pictures were taken at church last Sunday. Everybody loved his little tie :) Malachi and Kip are so cute together with their red hair.
Marc and I are doing well. We hired a babysitter for two days a week to help up out with Malachi while we work. It is harder than one would think to get any work done with a ten month old around. This way I can get all of my work done while she is here and can concentrate on Malachi on other days. We love Miss Erin!

Malachi is 9 months now. He is crawling everywhere and getting into everything. He has also cut his top two teeth so well will have to be careful when breast feeding! :)

Cosette is finally here!

I got to witness my second live birth on Friday. There is nothing like watching a baby being born. It is so amazing to me. What is more amazing is how well Jenni did...8lbs 14oz and she only pushed for 21 minutes! Cosette is healthy, beautiful, and already sleeping longer through the night than Malachi does at 8 months. Lets just say that I am going to do things much differently on night time feedings with my next baby. On a happy note, Malachi is crawling now. Last night Malachi and I were playing in his play room. I was on one side of the room and he was on the other. He just got up on all fours and crawled across the room like he had been doing it forever. Crazy kid. He has been laying flat on his belly for the past few months just looking like superman, I thought he was never going to crawl. I guess it is time to put the baby gates up. I have not been looking forward to the running around after my kid stage. It is fun to watch them grow up and learn new things though.
